The Why

We all go through seasons. Some seasons we love, some we loathe, some become nostalgic memories while others we wish would be erased from our memory. Since about November, I have been in a season with my business that’s been unlike any other season I’ve experienced yet with made.. It's been such an exciting season as I feel full of inspiration and direction. I’ve seen growth in both myself and this little business. I can see things on the horizon and I am patiently anticipating the moment they come to fruition. However, in the midst of launching new ideas, promoting sales, and just generally taking on more, I wonder if I have failed to communicate the why.

Some of you may have been following made. for a while now and to you I’d like to say that regardless of the season I find myself, or this business, in I intend to stick to the why and maintain the vision and the mission that I started out with. Others of you may have just recently started following along and maybe you have yet to hear the why behind this business. Please, let me tell you.

made. exists to cultivate creativity while pointing to Hope in our Creator.

Hope. Capitalized. Because Jesus is the Hope of the world.*

Creator. Capitalized. Because, “In the beginning God created…”*

My hearts greatest desire is to watch others fall in love with their Creator. I want to see those that are hope-less not filling themselves up with a phony and temporal version of hope, but rather their hearts being captured and filled up with the eternal and everlasting Hope of Christ. I used to think that my desire to have a jewelry business with this mission at its core was silly and impossible. But I’ve seen it happen. And I’m reminded that with God all things are possible.*

I pray that the jewelry I make with these stones that are often sought after as a counterfeit healing energy force, will instead be used as a means of teaching people that only by Jesus' bloody stripes that He bore for us on that rugged cross are we healed.*

I pray that this publication, made. {written}, will be a platform for my words and the words of many others to inspire and ignite idle minds. That those who have felt that their voices and their stories have been sealed in silence will here be able to give praise to God because we are fearfully and wonderfully made*; Saved by grace* and charged with the mission of sharing the gospel of Christ.*

I pray that with made. {out of the clay} that idle hands will be put to work. That like me, others will find that their hands have worth. Their lives have worth. Though they may feel unlovable, I pray that they know that they are so loved God sent His only son, Jesus, to die just for them. Just for me.* Because before our existence, He already knew that which would be formed in the womb.* And just like how I pull the stones from the clay in the mountains for my jewelry, He pulls us out of the miry clay of our human circumstance.*

Hear me when I say that this is more than just jewelry. It is more than just words. It is more than just crafting. It is hope in motion.

In some seasons you may find me proclaiming this from the rooftops, other seasons I may be quietly cultivating what God has entrusted to me and my growing team, and still other seasons I may just simply be taking care of business and doing my very best to steward this dream. Just know that at the center of all of this, whatever "this" turns into, is Jesus and the hope to see others lives eternally changed.
